Synopsis

Ryan, Lisa, and Alexander dig into the Mars-Uranus conjunction that turned exact on the morning of July 4th, right on America's own birthday, and trace its echoes back through four passes in Gemini during the 1940s, including the lead-up to Hiroshima. They ground the astrology in a real story: a couple who survived a lightning strike and near house fire the night before, and how that single event showed up in both of their charts. Along the way, they touch on Mars and Venus as creative partners, why retrograde Mercury is amplifying the moment, and what Carl Jung's idea of synchronicity has to do with any of it.

Ryan: Welcome to Astrology Off the Charts. We are three professional astrologers, friends, and lifelong students of the human experience exploring astrology through thoughtful conversation. We're glad you're here. I am Ryan Barrett.

Lisa: I am Lisa Hagenbuch.

Alexander: And I'm Alexander Mallon, and it's so nice to have you join us. Thanks for joining us again. So, yeah, folks, we were having quite a quite a round table before we hit the record button here. And we have a lot to cover. There's a lot of really here we are in July of 2026, going into this August summer eclipse season that Lisa will tell us about a little bit too. There's just a lot of cycles happening. There's a lot of things occurring. and we've got a lot to unpack. So let's kind of I guess jump in.

Ryan: Yeah. you know, we've today's episode we're gonna dive into a little bit more around the Mars-Uranus conjunction that recently happened morning of July 4th is when it when it was exact. and one thing we just want to talk about, we had spoken about the transcendental trine in our previous conversation, kind of moving into this Mars-Uranus conjunction. just one thing to put it in perspective, the last time that the that Mars and Uranus were conjunct in the sign of Gemini was in March of 1947. And the last time that both of those planets were in the constellation Gemini was four distinct times over the course of the 1940s. Once in January 16th, 1943, December 28th, 1944, and then October 4th, 1945, which occurred just after the detonation of the atomic bomb which concluded World War II, and then the final time was March 11th of 1947. and we're seeing it again for the first time on July 4th of 2026, which happened on the birthday of the United States. So just to put things in perspective, you know, these Gemini periods historically correspond with major shifts in military innovation, communication technologies, global warfare. Those are the themes that tend to come up with this type of a conjunction.

Alexander: And this is reflected, I believe, too, isn't it, Ryan, in the US chart. that is, of course, July 4, 1776. to be discovered, but was on the verge of discovery in 1781. And so when we place that Uranus placement in the July 4th, chart, that Uranus placement is joined there with everything about the US chart, that July 4th, that Cancerian nation that we are, Gemini Cancer. So the signs of Gemini, Cancer, and Leo, those three signs in a row of the zodiac have lots of planetary placements in the U.S. chart, July 4th, 1776. And those areas are really being hit at these particularly powerful awakening times. And in fact, the planet Uranus itself, discovered eight 1781, astrologers look at that correlation of Uranus' discovery, it's always there, but when it comes to awareness for humanity, our locating it, our seeing it, that for an astrologer, we begin to look at that coincidence of events and say, what marks the 1700s, mid-1700s, the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the Industrial Revolution, like having a telescope recently invented the last few hundred years and applying it to the heavens to discover something we've never seen before. So it's technological breakthrough, but it's also coincidental, Uranus, the planet, and its cycles with revolution. So we're talking about revolutionary cycles. Every time Uranus has an orbit of 84 years, so every 84 years, you could say that everyone has a revolution at age 84. As an individual, you have a revolution of your life and your life experience. As a nation, those astrologers who do mundane or political astrology, every time Uranus returns for a nation, there is a revolution of some sort, a revolutionary restructuring in the nation. And our nation, of course, right now is having that Uranus return. We're in we're in the peak of an 84-year cycle ourselves right now.

Ryan: Lisa, from your perspective, I know we were talking before about how you know, what our different viewpoints are relative to this particular conjunction. I'm curious what your thoughts are as well.

Lisa: Yeah, so I think there's a lot to say. I am always really focused on Mars and Venus from the relationship standpoint. conjunct Uranus. And for people that are not as familiar with astrology, a conjunction means the two have come together exactly at the same point, to the same degree, same minute. And so what do the two, what does Mars represent? What does Uranus represent? So Mars is masculine in nature, it's our desire to put something into action. It rules our drive, our desires. it can be impulsive. It wants to do what it wants to do. And Uranus is the planet that spoiler alert, we're gonna talk about lightning strikes a little bit later in the episode, but it rules lightning strikes and volcanic eruptions and things that happen a little bit either out of the blue, suddenly, unexpectedly, or it sparks awareness. And so it's a really fascinating time. This conjunction is flanked by the dwarf planets, Ceres and Sedna. And they're all so Ceres is an is the hierarchy of the moon, and Sedna is the hierarchy of Ceres. And Sedna has a lot to do with what our soul's purpose is in this is an individual lifetime. So we may be going about our lives and thinking, you know, our personality is going to do one thing. And if the soul is really saying that, you know, we need to call in another experience, there might be something that is brought into awareness, or there might be something that is expired that needs to end. So I think it's really interesting, those two being flanked. and then Venus bringing that in. Venus is opposite the moon during this Mars-Uranus conjunction. The moon is right next to the north node in as it's changing signs into Pisces. So there's a lot about something new coming into place, possibly after something it needs to go, needs to expire. So those are my initial thoughts on it. I'd love to hear your takes on it.

Ryan: Yeah, I think something I would love to just pause and mention for a moment for anyone listening. You know, when we when we're talking about astrology related to world events, we call that Mundane Astrology, right? So there's this idea that there are synchronistic correlations between what's happening in the world and you know, when we when we talk in astrology, it's as above, so below, that there are these synchronistic correlates between what's happening with the planets and the motion of the planets and the cycles that they're moving through, and what's happening here in the real world. And as humanistic astrologers, we also talk about these planets relative to consciousness and how we're experiencing the energy of those planets related to human consciousness and how we're applying that to our lives. And those have a lot of linkage in terms of what to do with each other. But when I look at Mars and Uranus just from a symbolic perspective, you know, Lisa, you mentioned this idea of you know, will and willpower with Mars. you know, I love the way Stephen Forrest refers to Mars in a birth chart. He says Mars is the god of war, where it lies, you're getting a crash course in assertiveness. And so that's kind of the feeling that comes up with Mars and Uranus. you know, the question he asks is who would you be if you weren't shaped by out outside influences? So, you know, what is the authentic self that's trying to break free from conditioning in terms of what's happening around you? And I think you can apply those same things to mundane astrology as well. When these two planets are coming together, it's this, you know, these are your words, Alexander, but lightning out of the bottle. You know, it's like there's this shocking combination of energies, one dealing with some very powerful stuff in terms of willpower and assertiveness, and that what you might say, Lisa's that masculine energy or just the assertive energy, the forward momentum and Uranus that's just you know giving you this opportunity to break free from what's been happening before. Now, there's positive connotations to that, there's negative connotations to that, but as we start to apply consciousness and what individuals are looking to do with that energy, it does create an opportunity for us to break free from things that we've been stuck in or moving through, kind of you know, tying into what you were discussing.

Alexander: Yeah, indeed. Well, yeah, you know, again, you're when a planet generally, I should say, when a planet is discovered, whether it's a planet in our solar system or whether it's an asteroid or whether it's a centaur body, let's say a Pluto body, astronomers gather all this data that helps us understand its physical form and its real relativity to us in the so the sort of our solar cloud, you know. but astrologers interpret the coincidence, the meaning. ergo, like when Uranus was discovered in the 1700s, and we had the rise of hard science. It's not only that we invented the telescope and applied it, but also during that Uranian time, you could say Ben Franklin harnessed lightning, you know. Ben Franklin, a fellow Capricorn, harnessed electricity. And in fact, you know, Franklin is heralded in Europe for many of his great accomplishments. Certainly Franklin was a scientist, and you know, his application and discovery is capturing, as we all know, of the kite flying experiment in the key, so to speak, with Franklin. You know, he literally brought you know lightning out of the clouds, and that's all very Uranian and all occurred during those early months and years of Uranus' discovery around that time. So astrologers, of course, look to see these correlations, and not just over a brief period, but over a lengthy period. So you could even say, by the way, guys, that Hindu and Tibetan astrology, Vedic, they call it Vedic astrology versus Western astrology, that they don't incorporate the planet Uranus at all. They feel it's not it existed in our awareness for a lengthy enough period of hundreds or thousands of years for us to derive an understanding of the coincidence of its cycles astronomically with human experience. But you know, we're kind of in America, we're kind of upstarts, you know. We sort of jumped right in to discovering these things like Uranus and Neptune and Pluto and seeking attribution. And so Uranus is about lightning, it's you know capturing lightning, right? Quite literally, and the discovery and the breakthrough and revolution, French, American, and industrial revolutions, the mechanical revolution. So that's an Uranian element, yeah. And so these planets and their attributions are not just pulled out of mythic thin air, they're really coincident with one's lived experience, which gets back, I think, to our chatting about humanism, astrology as a as a signal and signpost of these cycles of nature. I call it cycles of nature.

Ryan: Yeah, absolutely. I'm gonna bring up the actual chart for the Mars-Uranus conjunction. So the exact moment that these two planets were conjunct of Gemini on July 4th, 2026 at 2:07 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, pulling from the Washington DC chart. And you know, one thing to note, and kind of going back to the definition of what a conjunction is, it is the planting of a seed, it's the marrying of two energies in a way that allows that to unfold. And I think one of the more interesting things about conjunctions is because it is the planting of a seed, because it is the coming together of two different energies and how they start to meld together, is you don't see the fullness of it right away, right? So there is something that is germinating or planting as you're getting into this moment of you know, oneness, and only in aspect to that oneness do we start to see how that is going to unfold in reality, in the world around us and in our own consciousness. so when we get into things like conjunctions, whether it's in a birth chart or whether it's mundane in the world, you know, that there is this idea behind the cycles and the timing of that, not only leading up to that conjunction, but unfolding after the conjunction. so it's not that something immediate is going to happen right away. It's not that there's gonna be this big you know, event that happens. It does it can happen that way. but I think we also have to start thinking about how is this unfolding over time as well.

Alexander: So astrology cycles are time periods.

Lisa: Yeah. And speaking of time, I think, you know, I'm a big proponent. The reason I name my company Future Echo is I kind of think time goes backward and forward, or maybe it happens all at once. Mars-Uranus conjunction is that it, you know, it's on July 4th. It's in the very start of the Mercury retrograde period. So Mercury went retrograde on June 29th, and it will stay there until July 23rd of this year. So the way the reason why this becomes more amplified is because Mercury rules Gemini. It's an air sign, so it's communication. And when we have retrogrades, it's a time. I'm not an advocate of like everything goes haywire, but it is a time to go back and redo. So we're planting a seed, but what we may be planting a seed going forward is revisiting something from the past and seeing how we now want to bring that into our creative energy and our creative manifestation. You know, I mentioned, and you know, there's such an emphasis on what we desire to do, but the Venus component to it gets really activated. You know, there's a lot happening all at once during this Mars-Uranus conjunction because we're also about a month out from the fall eclipses, which are going to be early this year. So the first one is August 12th. That's a solar eclipse. It typically brings something to you. It's at 20 degrees of Leo. And in this chart, Venus is 23.

Ryan: Right around here.

Lisa: Yep. Can you know in a in a Y conjunction to the south? No, and again, and Venus has a lot to do with love, resources. It's for this chart, it's the ruler of the ascendant, and it is about receiving, attracting. It's opposite the moon up there. And the lunar eclipse, which would be the full moon on August 28th, is at four degrees of Pisces in a conjunction to that moon north node. So that Venus is really getting activated alongside of the Mars. And to me, pairing those two together is about creating something, creating something new, maybe going back to something from the past and moving it forward. So there's a lot in the mix that with more so than just the Mars Uranus conjunction.

Ryan: So yeah.

Alexander: So you're saying, Lisa, that this chart sets up since it's a it's a the exact conjunction of Mars, Uranus, those two cycles. the Mars two-year cycle, the Uranus 84-year cycle, and then a larger cycle. that Ryan, you were addressing, one of the last big cycles of Mars Uranus was in fact in the mid-1940s, when we had the Hiroshima event that helped bring World War II to a close. so these cycles are coincident with you know big upwellings that often happen for humanity. And Lisa, you're mentioning that these that this particular chart and it being a significant cycle sets kind of a template or an energetic template, perhaps, that the eclipses coming a month later are kind of triggering, or maybe an astrologer would say tipping off or something.

Lisa: Yeah, and I think you know it's a it's air, right? So it is a lot about how we communicate, how we process, how we communicate in all forms. And I think it's you know, we can also go back to past experiences and try to heal mend, you know, fences, you know, during the retrograde. So it's you know, because it's in an air sign, it might not be, you know, as physically volatile as it could be if it were in a fire sign. I mean, we the Mars Uranus conjunction, it you know, it can it's impulsive, it can, it can rule accidents or it can, you know, we're gonna in, you know, we're literally have a story about lightning. So yeah, I do think that, you know, we're approaching the fall eclipses. And so I just think that, I think to me, you know, Uranus is a lot about our outer experience is often where what's been building up inside of us, where we're board stuck and limited and we want to break free from something. And I think eclipses oftentimes bring in events that seem a little meant to be. So I think this approaching, you know, the eclipses, I just think it adds. And then, but with Mercury, its ruler, you know, reviewing things. I think it's a really interesting in terms of the time dynamic.

Ryan: Yeah. And Alexander, you brought up something earlier around Uranus, you know, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto aren't typically traditions in astrology because they are more newly discovered planets. One of the systems that both Lisa and I learned through our teacher was really looking at those outer planets as harbingers of consciousness and being able to you know, they showed up in our awareness at times when we were as a human race sort of expanding consciousness and understanding that there was more beyond this planet, more beyond you know, just what we could see with the naked eye, that we actually had to augment that in some way in order to engage with that visually, but also our understanding of what that was is also very, very much tied to consciousness. And those planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto all move very slowly around the sun. Their orbit is long. it takes a long time for them to transit. You know, our we've recently you know, gone past the year, 248 years. you know, Pluto coming back to its position when our country was born. so you know, that those are the cycles that we're talking about. So they tend to stay within a sign for a very long period of time, which means it gives you time to sort of marinate in consciousness for large groups of people, and the reason why they call them generational planets is because you know, people are born with large groups of people are born with an outer planet in a specific sign, and they all have that same planet in the same sign, maybe not to the same degree, but because they're so slow, it just takes a while for that to for that to happen. I think one of the things That we're talking about here is an outer planet, which deals with those long-term transits and the integration of consciousness with an inner planet, a more personal planet, Mars, in Gemini, in that sign. You know, that those two energies coming together create an opportunity for us to take that Mars energy, that exertion of will, expression of will, whether that you know is good or bad, taking it to a different level with Uranus being involved, just from an awareness standpoint. And so every time we go through one of these cycles, we have an opportunity to raise up our consciousness and meet it differently than we did in the last cycle. So looking back in the 1940s and what happened then and what we're going through now as a world, you know, what is the higher level of consciousness that we can bring to it now in order to use that energy in a different way than we have before? that's always the invitation, that's always the opportunity when we look at cycles over time, whether it's this particular conjunction in transit or a different you know, outer planet conjunction.

Alexander: So Lisa, you were particularly making sure that we that I want to say that I don't the scientific, you know, since I am a backyard astronomer and I always bring that passion of literally being at the eyepiece to my astrological work with clients and with my ideas, that we don't miss sort of mis have that be misconstrued by our viewers and listeners. that there is that, you know, the map of astrology, the map of the sky, these cycles, these larger, as you said, social cycles that especially the planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto coincide with. That these planets that we say are generational, as you said, Ryan. They're generational planets. They their cycles coincide with generational sweep, an entitled, entire sweeping generational, you sort of say the me generation of the 60s, you know. That was a great example of Uranus, Pluto, Neptune, the me generation, you know, this sweeping radical change, radical change of consciousness. And Lisa, you were pointing out that we have to remember too that this is playing out on an inner and outer level, that all astrologers, actually, all astrologers who practice, I think, perhaps not mundane political astrologers, but otherwise, astrologers will look at these cycles in our personal charts as describing the sometimes the material manifestation of things, you know, the proverbial like auto-fenderbender thing. or conversely, and or always though, it's sort of the interweave with the psyche, the person's growth and development. Like an event can an event can spur awareness or inner reviewing, or yeah.

Lisa: And I, you know, that's where I think it's we're talking about the generational planets, but then we're bringing it back to the personal planets of you know, the moon's involved, you know, Venus is involved, Mars is involved, and the moon, you know. I was really struck in this conjunction about the layering with the moon, because we've got the moon, which is like our emotions, and then we have the higher it's this conjunction is flanked by higher levels of that. So we can think of ourselves as our emotional nature, as a member of our family of origin, our family we create, our, you know, the as a citizen of the United States, as a global citizen. And I was gonna throw kind of a personal story in here about the I think the value of knowing this is coming and to work with it because this Mars-Uranus conjunction [VERIFY] is written on my north node, which is the direction the life is going. It's one degree off of that. And I so I kind of proactively work with my consciousness and I kind of I've had a lot of life changes that have happened recently in my life. And I feel I'm, you know, I feel pretty settled and kind of where I'm going is the path. It's pretty calm for me. but I think if I had resisted, if I had stayed where I was stagnant, if I had resisted my impulses and desires then and just to stay small, even, you know, or in my work or whatever it was, you know, that I'm growing and expanding right now. I think that this conjunction would have clobbered me over the head. And so I think if you know it's coming and you work with it more consciously, you can kind of co-create where you want to get to. And it's an easier flow. And I think that's the beauty of knowing your chart and the beauty of working with your consciousness on a daily basis. So I wanted to throw that in there because it I was, I know I would be having a much different time if I if I resisted what needed to change for my soul.

Ryan: Yeah. I you brought something up. I love it because it's visceral, right? It's this idea of something clobbering you over the head, right?

Lisa: Yeah.

Ryan: And I think a lot of people feel that in life sometimes, like they're just being clobbered over the head by something. And what a gift it can be to sort of step back from that feeling of being clobbered and be able to just from an outsider's perspective, sit back and take a look at what the energy is relative to your pattern, your DNA, if you will, of consciousness and understand how that energy's hitting you but from a safe perspective, right? And I think that's something that as astrologers we have an opportunity and a responsibility to really be able to sit down with our clients and take them through those instances where they might be feeling like they're being clobbered and maybe not doing such a good job of responding to it. but saying, you know, you're human, and we all go through this, and here's some of the synchronistic events that are going on around you that you may help you understand it differently, and then give them some strategies for how to approach that energy differently, like you did. so I think there's a real gift in that. And this, you know, even looking at something like this particular transit. and Alexander, I don't know if you want to want to maybe tee up a video that we have to share that maybe shows something real happening in the world. I think that could help.

Alexander: Well, you did you just said a mouthful, both of you, and I want to share even because we're you know we're all in different locales. I'm in the in the southeast of the US while we're filming this and recording this. So there are a couple of things. You use the word synchronicity, which is a big word for and I think it's a big word in our in our lexicon of ideas, all three of us. Carl Jung, you know, not I will say not Freud, but his protege, Carl Jung, was the person who really coined in the Western mind the idea of synchronicity. And Jung was an astrologer. We'll talk about that another time in the future in our shows that Carl Jung and his work as an astrologer, and a lot of his ideas as an astrologer, were you know foundational to his work. But the keyword in one book he actually wrote, one treatise was titled synchronicity about synchronicity, astrological synchronicity. Whereas you're saying, Lisa and Ryan, both of you, all of us are saying it, those cycles that our chart suggests we're going through may have a number of different like manifestations. That the cycle of life, the journey of a given chapter or time period is by happenstance coincidental with these astronomical astrological cycles. Astrologers have observed that coincidence of cycles and how they pertain to certain awareness. Like wherever your Uranus is in your birth chart, since its orbits 84 years for every human being, every creature. At age 84, you'll have Uranus returned. Or halfway at age 42, you'll have Uranus opposite. So at age 42, you'll have that Uranus opposing Uranus. And in Western psychology, we call that midlife crises. So astrology is a kind of a roadmap for astrologers of these complex cycles, cycles upon cycles, cycles within cycles, and they describe these potentials. So when you have a Uranus opposing when you have a midlife crisis, you may have you may decide to change your job or change your relationship. Or Uranus opposing Uranus, your job may change you. You may be employed somewhere where it goes through a radical change, and the happenstances that your employment shifts. that by the way, you're probably happy for a change at midlife crises time, but it'll change your course in some way, shape, or form. So astrologers look at the coincidence of these cycles and their potentials. But then there is this other piece where these cycles do, like you're mentioning, Lisa, particularly, that we're in a retrograde Mercury cycle right now during this Uranus-Mars conjunction of July 3rd, July 4th, 2026. and retrograde Mercury, oftentimes we see as astrologers, it's coincidental, coincidal with changes that are mercurial events and circumstances and situations. So yeah, I had some clients that brought to me a very Uranian event. In fact, it was in fact it was the evening of July 3rd, that involves a pretty Uranian event. Uranus for astrologers in the West, we think of it as explosive or a lightning flash of awareness. And I want to comment being in the different areas that we're taping right now, the last 10 minutes we've been having this past week a lot of thunderstorms. We're having a lightning electric storm cropping up the last minutes and a couple of flashes. I have my window shades open in front of me, so I'm seeing these flashes as you're talking about lightning. It's the perfect that's astrology, that's a real lived astrology. While we're taping this program discussing lightning strikes, I'm don't think you can see the flashes through my window on my face, but there's you know the rumbling and the flashes, and so you know the coincidence is we're even talking about it. I guess we're invoking the gods. That's what the ancients would think. They're invoking the gods, but I just think it is an interesting coincidence. Not sure that I'm invoking anything, but it is coincidental. So, yeah, let's go on with the next piece of what we've worked on for today.

Ryan: All right. I'm gonna share a video, so for those of you listening, you're not gonna have the benefit of seeing what we're watching here, but of hearing of you'll hear it, but you won't be able to see it, see it. if they're if they're just listening. I have never seen anything like that.

Alexander: That was a bad one too.

Lisa: I saw I saw like a fire thing somewhere. Did you see that?

Ryan: I saw that, yeah. Somewhere every time I see this, I'm like, wow.

Alexander: So for the so the people who are listening, Ryan, you might want to you know explain what we were just watching and listening to a little bit.

Ryan: So I'm gonna I'm just gonna stop sharing real quick. essentially, what we saw was someone looking through their window. There was a storm in their backyard, and you don't see the flash of lightning, but there was a lightning bolt that hit a transformer in the back of their home towards these trees, which blew up, caught fire, and the woods are burning in the background.

Alexander: The woods went up fast because the wind was so intense and blowing so furiously that it just the things just blew up and they were calling 911. Yeah. So I heard from these clients that they had quite a July 4th event. It was actually around 7 p.m. evening time. He was firing up the barbecue to receive guests and friends, and this storm blew in. And as the video said, you could barely hear her. But she said, his spouse said, God, I've never seen a clouds look like that. I've never seen the sky look so just threatening and roiling, and I've never seen that before. And then kaboom, and then the transformer gets hit, and then the you know, the wind is really raging and the leaves are going, the trees are swaying, all of them, and then the thing just totally blows up in fire. And then call 911 get him down here. The interesting story behind this further was that my clients had just at that home, they had just installed they're kind of a new couple kind of on their way to getting married, so each have their own residences. so as he could as she comes to visit him, she has her electric car and they need to have a way to charge her car. So they had just brought an electrician in to put this electrical post or something in the yard to charge her car, like three weeks or less earlier than this storm. And the electrician said, Holy crap, if you if I hadn't put that post in, if I hadn't put like that surge protector for your house, that would have probably fried your entire house. It would have like come from that transformer right into your house. So there's an Uranian explosive event on that evening of the Uranus Mars conjunction, quite literally for this couple. it was in there until of course it begged the question. This is what all students of astrology do. When I heard this, I thought, what the hell's happening in their chart? Like, does their chart show this? Sometimes charts don't show it, but usually they do. Most of us, right? We tend to argue, gee, why is that chart why did the why didn't the moon show it like to the to the degree it should have occupied to indicate this incident at that precise moment? Their charts are one of those cases where it kind of happened you know a few hours early for astrology, if you will. But there goes, you know, you can't second guess great spirit or whatever. It is what it is. The lightning came, the lightning struck. As we're taping this, the lightning is flashing outside my window, as I said, by pure coincidence. And you know, here they have this event.

Lisa: And Uranus usually hits a day, you know, a transit of Uranus is usually a day or two before because it's that's the part of the unexpected, right? So that's true. To me, that it's it's kind of on track with that, but yeah, it's a it's you never know when it's an interesting discussion about fate and free will, you know. So obviously this is a this was kind of a meant-to-be, you know, something they couldn't control.

Ryan: Well, well, and it's also you say fate and free will, you know, there will always be things that are gonna happen to us. We live, we live in the world, things will unfold, things will happen around us that we will have no control over whatsoever. And I think that's one of the interesting things about Uranus and I would say Neptune, and I would say Pluto as well, is that there's this sense of not being in control when you are I won't I won't say under the influence when I say I was tempted to go there, but when there are transits from these outer planets happening to very sensitive points within your own birth chart, there tends to be a sense of you're not in control. And I think that's important to just understand it's not about what's happening around you, it's about what is the quality of your awareness that you're bringing to the situation and how are you responding to it. And that's the only thing that you do have control over, and therefore, you know, it does it that helps to helps it to play out differently if you know that going into it. But we have some charts up here, yeah.

Alexander: So from a counseling standpoint, and from a humanistic standpoint, Lisa and Ryan, we would all three look at these two charts and see something significant. And maybe with Ryan with your arrow, you could point it out. Sure. That Mars Uranus conjunction in the outer wheel here on Christopher's chart is opposing his Uranus over the next few months. They're at 11 degrees of Sag. And so again, Uranus opposite Uranus, that happens for every human being. Since its orbit is 84 years, wherever it was when you're born, it'll come back to where it was at age 84. But halfway around age 42, Uranus will oppose Uranus. That's just coincidental for every human. Astrologers say, well, isn't that a fascinating coincidence? That Uranus, when we discovered it's about revolution, and Uranus opposite Uranus, age 42. In psychology, they say that's a time of adjustment, that's a midlife crises time. Well, both these folks are having their midlife crises or their middle at middle age areas of age 40, 41, 42, 43, and they are both shifting circumstances and jobs and career changes, and even now, since they're a fairly new couple a few years, a relationship change. They each own properties, but now you know, and they're a bit of a distance, so they've really got to put some effort into connecting when they do to drive to each other's residence and set up residence in now two places for the time being, until I guess they marry, they'll figure out the next step. So both of them have Uranus, opposite Uranus, and maybe you could show that in their charts where they each have that.

Ryan: Yeah, so the in Christopher's chart, his natal Uranus is at 11 degrees Sag in his second house, and it's opposing the transiting Uranus at three degrees Gemini in the eighth house. And if you look at Kat's, we've got her Uranus natally. In the first. In the first at 17 Sag. again, you know, looking at people born around the same time or within you know several years of each other, Uranus transits, or Uranus will be within a sign for many years. So we're talking about you know, the reason why that they both have Uranus and Sagittarius because of that. It's a generational planet.

Alexander: They're bore they're both born 1983 and 85, respectively. Right.

Ryan: So within a f within a few years of each other, and her transiting Uranus is going through the seventh house, opposing that natal Uranus in the first.

Alexander: So she has Uranus transiting, so radical midlife change with marital status. They're you know, they're engaged. and he has Uranus in that eighth, that same quadrant. So now it's fiscal and financial, and how they're gonna marry their resources and their two properties. So they're both having that quadrant of relationships aspect in their chart. But the key of this transit is that Mars Uranus conjunction we were talking about, Lisa and Ryan, that Mars Uranus at three degrees, so it's opposite his chart, a lot of planets in his chart, and it's square to Kat to the spouse's sun at the bottom of her chart, the sun Mercury in late Aquarius. There's a good example that Uranus technically had already squared her sun and Mars over the last year or two. She's been having a lot of changes, career changes, identity changes, marital changes. But when Mars came to join it, these last few weeks of this event of this lightning strike, and this house fire, this almost a house fire that could have been worse had they not, by coincidence, had some work done on their house electric system before this happened stance. That Mars coming to that Uranus, that's the explosive piece. The key that's the trigger is not just that faster moving body than Mars. For an astrology lingo, the transit of Mars joining that Uranus, the transit of Mars, the god of explosions and wars, and the cycle that tends to be eruptive and explosive with Uranus, the planet of revolution, revolutionary upheaval. so it's one of those cycles that can be coincident with something like a fender bender kind of a thing. but what makes this cycle really get triggered is that moon placement. I thought, I think I even did a session for Christopher a couple of weeks prior to this July 4th weekend that they had this lightning strike. And I had said to him, you know, there's a bit of a cycle here in your chart to just be mindful of your own energetics, you know, how your inner psyche is doing, your sense of frustration or temper. He's trying to get things off the launch pad with career or different things, and he's encountering some you know challenges that will always happen for all of us when doing new career things. And so I thought, well, you know, maybe he needs himself to be mindful of his own inner temperament and not lose it. I thought when that moon was in Scorpio on His natal moon and on his Venus, that might have been opposing Uranus, Mars, when he might have had some turbulence. He's looking to purchase some other property right now for a business. And so he's really struggling with that purchase and with the players and the seller. And some real problems have cropped up. And so I thought, well, there it is, you know, that Mars Uranus opposite his moon. He's buying property. But the transit of the moon, about a week or so prior to this event was really in the thick of some legal stuff. so I was thinking he might have, you know, more lightning-like events then. But here, on this lightning strike of July 3rd, the moon had just been transiting through his fourth house of residence and property and home, had just entered his fifth house of parties. He was just lighting the barbecue for their friends to come arrive, and kaboom, the lightning strikes the transformer and the woods go on fire. If they hadn't just had that electrical work done two weeks or three weeks earlier, their house would have gone on fire. And so the trippy thing about this chart is the moon in his fourth house of home and residence and the fifth of parties aspecting the Mars around his transit and hitting his chart placements. Even the moon by transit was crossing over the asteroid in his birth chart, Ceres. We see the moon just shy of that Ceres with that north node, the eclipse cycles that Lisa is telling us about. That north node, the eclipse cycles, is right on his Ceres. Ceres rules property. He's trying to buy property to create a restaurant, actually, and he's trying to transform his own home to accommodate his new wife and the electricity. Thank God he did that. And they had an electrical strike that could have burned down the house. Her chart has the Mars Uranus in the house of marriage, her marital partner. So it says an event could occur with her marriage partner. Hopefully, not the marriage itself. I'm certain it won't be the marriage of these two. you get to know their chart, they're really lovely, they're a perfect couple. But there is something explosive like, yeah, if your house burns down when you're in it trying to light the barbecue, that could be kind of a dampener for a party. the moon had just crossed her sun at the same degree. Her sun's 26 Aquarius, the transiting moon was 26 Aquarius at the bottom of her chart. She had just driven a few hours to get to that house, you know, to be there for the weekend and for the 4th of July weekend with friends. she had just moon on her Mercury driven to get there. And then, of course, they had this major event in the house that probably changed something about their 4th of July experience altogether. It certainly was explosive. His comment was, by the way, Alexander, our 4th of July really was fireworks. You had to let me know. Oh my gosh. So you so it kind of brings up Lisa and Ryan. Lisa, I'm thinking, you know, it's the outer event of the of the fire, the woods going on fire, but also the inner event of them being still kind of a couple coming together and you know, bringing joining the marital homes, each person's house.

Ryan: Yeah. Yeah, and I this is also bringing up just some thoughts around. I had a client recently that I was working with. you know, when we talk about these types of transits, looking in our clients' charts to see where these hit. you know, this was a woman that I've been working with for a while, and it was hitting a particularly sensitive point in her chart, having to do with family, having to do with siblings and parents. And you know, the discussion that we had was around how to approach this particular weekend in a way where there was a heightened awareness around the things that were going on around her that she did not have control over. and control was you know kind of a theme in her birth chart that we've been discussing from for a long time now. but it was a different way, giving her a different way to approach that, and not from a fearful place, but from a place of empowerment where it's like, okay, I'm not gonna necessarily be able to control what's going on around me, but how do I need to center myself so that I can be in the right space, headspace, heart space to be able to weather whatever might come in that situation. and if nothing comes of it, that is you know that's great. But these are all opportunities to engage with the energy differently. So I d I love this example though, just in terms of the lightning strike because it's so real and you know you can't deny it.

Alexander: But it also yeah, yeah, like for instance Lisa and Ryan, and I'm thinking of Lisa in terms of the you know, Lisa's leading us into the idea of the of the of the psyche, you know, the inner and Ryan, you're also the psyche, the nature of one's inner experience of something. So you know you go through a life situation or a life experience. What how do you process it? How do you make sense of it? How do you frame it? is there an outer experience that happens all on its own, like lightning? That's you know, nothing conjured. but also many times situations in our lives are at least correlated. You know, we're in a work situation or we're a part of it, or we're in a marital situation, we're invoking or evoking situations and sort of an energetic to happen in a dynamic, as we're doing right now, the three of us. Yeah, and so the charts are always metaphoric, they're both literal sometimes, like lightning, but also a metaphor like for that Uranus, you know, a midlife crises. Yeah. had their house gone on fire, they would have you know had to drive the hour and a half or whatever back to her house to have the celebration after the fire trucks came. You know, thank god it didn't go that way, right? But it sure the woods sure as hell looked like it was getting close. So Lisa, I'm kind of wondering, yeah, what's percolating for you when you were sharing about Venus in that Mars Uranus conjunction on the July 4th when they had this event. Oh, because that Venus certainly was relational. It was it was like a marriage, you know, maybe even a marriage event to have couples and as they're progressing.

Lisa: Yeah. I it, you know, when you have big events like that, it really shows you in a relationship how you're gonna handle it emotionally, you know. Do you do you freak out over a crisis or are you calm in a crisis? And I think I think, you know, especially if their living, you know, situation had changed, I think it, you know, it's one of those events that they had nothing to do with really internally or just externally. But it does it because it was relational, it was a party, it was either engaged, you know. It's interesting, the fallout of those. And I think that can spark interesting awareness and discussions about how you handle big events like that in life together.

Alexander: Yeah, and what they're what they're bringing into this situation, whatever, whatever, you know. So again, he's looking to buy property, he's looking to open a restaurant, so you know, his expansions are gonna have an impact on their bottom line together, how they unfold.

Lisa: Yeah, it could have gotten really involved talking about Venus, right? Yeah, real quick, if it's all of a sudden, you know, yeah.

Alexander: Yeah, well, you know, in her birth chart, she's got that Uranus Mars transiting change, sudden change in her house of marriage, and he has it in his eighth house of resources and monies and joint resources, investments, and you know, monies from banks and things to open this restaurant. So clearly you know, they are dynamic together, but also individually. Where is that Uranus Mars hitting their charts? Oh, it's in her house of marriage. An astrologer might say, you may have a marital partner theme that could be disruptive with lots of change or lots of tumult. And he certainly in attempting to buy this restaurant has had a ton of tumult thus far. I mean, I'm exaggerating, but he's had you know challenges that will happen when you go to like buy a restaurant and build it and build it in a structure.

Ryan: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and the symbology you can continue going down the road in terms of you know what that looks like, but looking at their natal charts relative to the event around them, you know, that way you were talking about Lisa, in terms of how they're going to approach it from a relational standpoint, and also, you know, just in the moment, what's their fight or flight reaction? We're talking about the fight or flight is Mars, the you know, relational aspect is Venus. And how did how do these individuals approach that, you know, based on where their natal placements are? And then relative to the event itself, which is just a big you know shock of a moment, it does bring it tends to bring out the you know who they are in those moments. you can even hear it in their voices in terms of what they were saying about what was going on around them. so to me that's fascinating as well as just understanding how that plays out. I don't know if both of you feel this way, but in terms of being an astrologer and being with other people that aren't astrologers, you know, when something happens, your instinct is to be like, okay, where's the chart? Let me let me look at it and see if we can make sense of this. And people get kind of kind of annoyed by it sometimes, especially our partners. Alexander, I think you're good because you your partner is also very into astrology.

Alexander: Yeah, yeah. Thank God. Thank God my partner is very much a fellow student. Yeah, well, that you hit the nail on the head. So I always think that Western astrologers, I think we had a program, one of our first shows together. that was my question too. We were sort of all inquiring of each other how we got into astrology, factor for us. Lisa had a session with an astrologer, she knew really nothing about astrology, and Ryan and I both had Linda Goodman's Sun Signs be a critical book to kind of bring us in some way. but I think that it happens because we're seekers. You know, we're I think I think kind of a yeah, we are, we don't think of this, but you know, we are at least I am a very late boomer. so you know, as a late boomer generation, I come on the heels of the 60s. It was all about, in fact, it was the last time we had a very big Pluto, Uranus-Neptune phase, like that transcendent trine we talk about with Neptune at the apex and Uranus Pluto to each other in the in the 40s, and then this the kids of the born in the 1940s who became the kids of the 60s, the young adults of the 60s, when I was born in the 60s. that was Pluto at the center. In the 60s was a time of radical transformation as we're having now. The very same structure, that minor grand trine structure in the 60s, those kids of the 60s as we're having right now, radical change, radical transformation. And so the theme is you know, the inner-outer game, you know, how what you do when things start to erupt or change, how you bring that eruption and change to your life, how you go with the flow. And I love, as you said, listening to these two, when the lightning struck and then the transformer went in fire, and then the woods exploded in fire. You know, they both kept their cool, I would think, to a great degree. I could imagine any number of other, you know, reactions that anyone might have, you know, to from not only call the fire department, but you know, holy crap, like you know, my house could go on fire now.

Lisa: And I think I would have had an F-bomb going on.

Alexander: They had a they had a few. You they were there.

Lisa: Oh, okay. I you edited those.

Alexander: They mark they remarked that when they sent me the film that they you know, forgive us for the F-bombs. There were just a few, but they weren't. I might have been a lot less calm, perhaps, knowing myself during that moment. Yeah, but you're the inner outer game, yeah. That every situation in life is every of these cycles coincide with the inner developmental or challenge for the for the developmental. And every astrologer studies astrology to look at themselves, to have a to have a roadmap or a mirror, something to give me perspective on what I'm going through and how I got here and what might be the next steps or where I might go from here. So, yeah, we all look at our charts when there's an event. Yeah, birth of a child. We wonder about what does a chart for that child say, but also how does that birth chart relate to that mommy? How is that pregnancy for her? How is that delivery? What about the father? I mean, we look at these themes to give us perspective. But as you said, the psychological emotional is the bottom line. That's why oftentimes I'll reach over to my notebook here and bring up my picture of the Buddha. You know, I'll be with the client and say, Well, by the way, as we're discussing this fire event or this lightning strike, you know, you might also think, gee, you know, what's happening internally, or how am I handling this moment, or what came up for me when that moment happened, or gee, how my spouse, you know, handled it. Now, these are all things that you said, Lisa, really key. Because you started, Lisa, saying, Well, by the way, guys, don't get lost in the forest with the trees, because you know, when we had this Mars Uranus cycle this summer of on July 3rd and 4th, there's that Venus that was really powerful on the chart. Did you guys see that? And you know, I hadn't really seen that, Lisa. I hadn't really looked. I was like myopic, I saw the Mars Uranus, and but I kind of missed that moon Venus opposition on July 3rd, July 4th. That's right on top of Kat's chart, that woman who had the fire.

Lisa: Yeah. And I don't know. I mean, just I just think relationships have been under a big, you know, that's to me, the Venus Mars. And they, I just get that they're a lot of under a lot of testing, and it's interesting to see. I really feel, you know, and part of the Mars Uranus is we're all creators. What do we want to create? And that's Mars Venus to me. You got to bring those two together. You got to be able to do and you got to be able to attract and receive.

Ryan: So Uranus calling us to create something that's new and different that we haven't really experienced before. So yeah.

Alexander: And Uranus being a planet, as is Neptune, Pluto, that are particularly positioned now as they were in the 1960s and the 1940s, all those time periods. a time for something not only personal, well, how do we person what's our personal growth and awareness? And what's the collective? You know, and oftentimes in sessions I'll say, well, the collective is this thing, it's always in my back pocket. The collective, you know, is I'm boomer enough that computers didn't really exist when I was born. Computers didn't exist until I was really in my teens, 20s, you know. And so it's a collective change, it's a collective shift. that's one phenomenon external, but that's you know, it's kind of carrying us all. We're all part of this collective shift together. I know the discussions I've been having personally is the personal frustration I and other people have around data centers being built and what it takes to run them, and the amount of you know, potable, fresh drinking water that's becoming more and more critical, like drinking water, potable water for humanity is a big issue. And you know, every question I ask requires, you know, a cupful of potable drinking water to answer an AI question. So, you know, we're individually wrestling with what the collective scenario means to us. That the collective is the Uranus or the Neptune or the Pluto symbolizes that collective. Is that's what we're talking about, right?

Ryan: Yeah, it does. Yeah, and I know we're planning on sort of carrying on this conversation into the next episode and really kind of discussion around what's happening collectively, what's happening related to the US chart. so we appreciate everybody spending time with us again today. Hopefully this was interesting and you learned something from it. we'll continue the conversation and thank you for joining us.

Alexander: Yes, thank you. Blessings.

If you are ready to explore your chart in conversation — to understand your specific patterns, your timing, and your developmental direction — I’d be delighted to work with you one on one.
